When Young Somali-American men begin to disappear in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, a federal investigation discovers the recruitment of local teens for war efforts in Somalia, leaving their families to deal with the tragic aftermath.

Idil Ibrahim has Associate Producer credits on the documentary Americana (2009 Cinema du Reel International Documentary Film Festival in Paris, Morelia International, Margaret Mead International Documentary Film Festival), Trece Anos (2009 Sundance Film, Special Jury Mention at the Ashland Independent Film Festival), and Laredo, Texas (2010 Sundance Film Festival). Ibrahim's unique access to the families of the "missing youth" and her personal connection to the Somali diaspora inspired Displaced, which will be her directorial debut.

I was born into the Somali diaspora community here in the U.S. The conflict in Somalia plays out as an ever-present drama in my life. With the news story as my starting point, I will investigate both the public and private spheres of the Somali-American experience and explore the very nature of displaced identity.
