Summer of Our Lives

Logline

They were told to 'straighten-up' or leave home, off-beat Indian sisters Rumi & Nina decide to do just that - leave. To prove they’ve got what it takes they journey to London to make their mark on the capital's music scene. A summer of hope, love, betrayal and one they would never forget!

Meneka Das - Director, Screenwriter

Meneka trained as an actress at The Lee Strasberg Institute in London. Her first feature, Little Box of Sweets, had a successful two-week run at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art in August 2008, as well at regional cinemas around the UK. Meneka and her sister were the first Indians to be signed to a major record company and awarded a gold disc for the remix of their first single Heaven On Earth.

Summer of Our Lives offers a delightful contemporary mix of East-meets-West music, cultures, and cast. I hope to reflect themes of family, failures, and forgiveness in the visual style of the film. I’m particularly excited that both of the leads are female, which is rare in Indian Cinema.
