Q: Who Is Eligible to Apply?
A: As part of our year round support for our alumni, this grant is available only to an alumni who went through the Tribeca All Access (TAA) program. A submitted application should have a TAA alumni listed as Director or Writer.
Q: Can I submit a screenplay that I’m the co-writer or didn’t write?
A: TAA alumni can submit a screenplay they are co-writer on or not the writer as long as they are the director of the project and have the rights to the written screenplay.
Q: Can my documentary or narrative short be a work-in-progress for a longer piece?
A: Works-in-progress are acceptable, however the filmmaker must complete the 5-30min short version by March 2010. The short film should be edited and able to view and distribute as a completed story and not as a trailer or select scene(s) for the lengthier piece.
Q: What should be included in my budget?
A: Your budget should include crew cost, equipment rentals, and all other applicable fees associated with the production of the short film. The grant covers $10,000 towards the production of the film.
Q: What should I submit as a sample of my previous Director Work?
A: Examples of prior work may include short film, feature film, music video, commercial. Please DO NOT send reels or more than one sample of prior work, except if there is more than one director attached to the project.
Q: If given the award, when do I need to complete the film?
A: The completed final version of the film needs to be delivered to the Tribeca Film Institute’s office by Monday, March 1, 2010.
Q: Can I apply with more than one submission?
A: More than one submission can be submitted as long as they meet all of the requirements. However, only one award will be granted per alumni.
Q: Is there a fee associated with applying to this award?
A: There is no cost associated with applying to the Mandela Day Tribeca All Access award. The award is only eligible to alumni who participated in the Tribeca All Access program.
